Located 30 miles from Dublin in the Irish countryside, Camp Clongowes offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to combine sports with learning English.

The school, founded in 1814 as one of the greatest residential schools in Ireland, impeccably combines original castle-like buildings with new and modern facilities. It offers our students spacious and modern classrooms, large dormitories, a modern dining hall, tennis courts, a football field, an indoor gym, TV rooms, trampolines and ping pong tables, amongst others.

Participant Ages

10 - 17 years old
Students are divided into 2 age groups:

  • Group 1: 10 - 13 years old
  • Group 2: 13 - 17 years old

Course Dates & Duration

The student can begin any Saturday between June 29 and July 27. Arrivals and departures are on Saturdays.

The duration of the program can be of 2, 3 or 4 weeks.

Program

The program is conceived so that youngsters can have the possibility of learning and practicing numerous athetic and recreational sports. Of the 250 participants, roughly 80 are Irish students while the rest are international students.

The camp is divided into different age groups, according to the program of their choice. International students who participate in the camp can choose betwen the different programs offered, along with the opportunity to practice English all day. The options are:

  • Multi Activities: English lessons, activities and sports during the whole day like climbing, kayaking or ziplining which mesh with more traditional sports (football, tennis, frisbee, etc.) and creative activities (arts and crafts, jewelry, body painting, theater, etc.)
  • Multi Activities + Sports specialization or Activities: for those youngsters who want to dedicate a few hours a day to practicing and / or learning a specific sport. There are four half-days each week dedicated to the sport of their choice. The Multi Activity Camp will occupy the rest of students' time. Language practice is guaranteed.
    The options are:
    • Pony Camp: 10 - 17 years old
    • Golf: 10 - 17 years old
    • Tennis: 10 - 17 years old
    • Water sports: 10 - 17 years old
    • Star Factor: 10 - 17 years old
    • Rugby: 8 - 17 years old
  • English + Multi Activities (10 - 17 years old): 15 hours per week in small groups. The classes, which are taught by specialized professors, are very dynamic and interactive. Classes are held during the mornings, which leaves the afternoons for the multi activities program.
  • English + Sports specialization or Activities (10 - 17 years old): this is an option that combines a 15 hours per week English course with the sports program chosen by each participant. The four half-days dedicated to the chosen sport allow students to improve both linguistically and athletically.

All of the sports are taught by professional, highly qualified instructors and coaches in groups divided according to age and skill level. They are held in excellent facilties, many belonging to the school, and are open to all levels and with Irish participants. All of the options dedicate 4 half-days (approximately 12 hours) to the sport per week.

Accommodation

The students will stay in the school's residence, where they will be placed in single, double, triple or 4-person rooms with shared bathrooms and with full board. The room will be assigned by the Irish organization.

Activities, Sports & Excursions

The program is completemented by one full-day excursion per week to Dublin and other points of interest as well as one half-day excursion per week along with a fun program of ater-dinner recreational activities.

Counselors & Information

Students will be accompanied at all times by local counselors. Upon arrival students will be welcomed by the counselors, who will they assist them on the day of departure as well.
