Located in the county of Kent, this small town with a population of 25,000 inhabitants in southeastern England is the perfect place for a full immersion in the English language. It's just 20 kilometers from Canterbury and an hour and a half from London, providing our students with an authentic coastal British spirit with its quaint houses. The town also happens to be where Charles Dickens spent his summers.

Academic Center

For more than 30 years this school, recognized by the British Council, has been teaching English to students of all nationalities. Students have large, air-conditioned classrooms at their disposal as well as a student lounge where they can meet up with their fellow classmates. The school can be found in a quiet, residential street close to the seafront.

Classes

The program includes 20 lessons per week in small, international groups. Upon arrival at the center all students will take a test to establish their level of English and to place them in the correct learning group. The maximum number of students per group is 12. Those students who wish to undertake a more intensive program will receive 6 extra lessons per week, spread across two afternoons. Each lesson is equivalent to 45 actual minutes of class.

Accommodation

Students will stay with carefully chosen host families, where they will share a room with students of different nationalities. They will have full board; Monday through Friday lunch will be eaten in the school's cafeteria. For full day excursions, host families will prepare a packed lunch for students to bring along. Students will be able to get to school on foot from their host families.

Activities, Sports & Excursions

The program also includes a diverse sports and cultural program that includes activities every afternoon after class as well as after dinner. Students will enjoy sports contests, international parties, visits to local beaches, discos, theatre performances, karaoke, etc., as well as full and half day excursions to places like Canterbury, London and Cambridge (sample excursions).
