Academic Year Abroad - Ireland

Academic year in Ireland

Located in northwestern Europe, Ireland measures 486 kilometers long and 275 kilometers wide. With a population of almost 6 million inhabitants, it's a country waiting to be discovered: lakes, mountains, plains and tranquil cities brimming with charm.

Program Objectives

Spending an academic year abroad in Ireland provides students a one-of-a-kind opportunity for various reasons:

  • The opportunity to perfect English skills while being fully immersed in an English-speaking environment for 9 months. Students will be able to think and even dream in English, a linguistic milestone which serves as proof of the improvement and perfection of participants' English skills.
  • Get to know a new culture, meet different people, experience another lifestyle and form lasting friendships; all of this will inevitably help them to broaden their horizons.
  • Mature on a personal level. By facing their own problems and thriving in new situations, students build and foster their self-confidence.

Students should keep in mind that signing up for the Academic Trimester in Ireland means fully applying themselves in their studies as well as putting extra effort into adapting to a new culture, family, way of life, school, etc.

Participant Ages

12 - 20 years old

Location of the program

The program can take place throughout the island, but the student must decide if he/she prefers:

  • Dublin & surroundings
  • Rest of Ireland

Program Dates

Schools generally begin classes during the first week of September and continue through the end of May or beginning of June. The academic year consists of two vacations, which coincide with Christmas and Easter / Holy Week.

School Categories

We have three types of schools, both public and private:

  1. Boy's School
  2. Girl's School
  3. Mixed School

Choosing a school is only possible for those students who sign up before the beginning of May, though it always depends upon availability of spots.

The course is completely accepted and validated by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Students will stay with carefully chosen and highly-regarded Irish host families. There is a special coordinator in charge of monitoring the family and the student.
