Study English in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a historic city with beautiful sights and an endless list of offerings. During the summertime the city hosts all sorts of cultural activities, which has made summer a fundamental part of the United Kingdom's cultural calendar and Edinburgh an attractive destination during that time.

Edinburgh, with 450,000 inhabitants, is the capital of Scotland and one of the most beautiful cities in both the United Kingdom and Europe. The Old Town and New Town districts, which form part of the city, were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995.

Its most spectacular attraction is the castle that rises in the center of the city. Not only is it interesting for its historic use as a fortress and royal residence, but also because it provides spectacular panoramic views of the city.

Edinburgh was named a European Capital of Culture in 1991 and each year, in the fall, the Annual Festival of Edinburgh offers a great variety of music, comedy, art and theater that attracts visitors from all corners of the globe.

Academic Center

The program is held in the Mary Erskine School, a prestigious Scottish school located in a residential area of Edinburgh. The school is totally equipped with all the cultural and athletic facilities that students could need over the course of the program.

Classes

The course program consists of 20 hours of English taught in groups of international students. Classes are held during the mornings, and during the afternoons students can take advantage of a cultural program of activities accompanied by the team of professors. Each class has a maximum of 12 students.

Accommodation

Students have the possibility of staying in Pollack Hall, a university student residence, in a single room. These students will go to class via private transportation organized by the school. The residence is approximately 20 minutes from the school

Students may also choose to live with a Scottish family, where they will have the opportunity to experience day-to-day life in Scotland. Students will reside in double rooms shared with another student of another nationality.

Activities & Sports

The course includes a diverse cultural and athletic program. Every afternoon after class, students can participate in such activites as soccer/football, tennis adn volleyball. They will learn traditional Scottish dances and have Scottish parties. There will also be organized visits to Edinburgh's attrctions - the castle, the zoo, etc.

There will also be activities held after dinner, such as disco, movies, karaoke, treasure hunt...

Furthermore, the program includes weekend excursions to St. Andrews and the Falkland palace or a Loch Lomond cruise, amongst others.

Counselors

The group of students leaving from Madrid Barajas airport will be accompanied at all times by an Enforex Spanish counselor, who will remain with the group for the duration of the program and will accompany them back to Madrid.
