About Leysin, Switzerland

Leysin is located at an altitutde of some 1,263 meters in the Swiss Alps- an incredible spot in the heart of Europe.

Undoubtedly one of the jewels of Vaud district's Alps, Leysin is a beautiful city in French-speaking Switzerland. It also boasts an exceptional climate as well as well-developed sports organizations and infrastructures.

Combining the traditional charm and vibrant liveliness inherent to Leysin, a summer vacation destination and wintertime skier's paradise, this "resort" offers visitors a wide range of activities all year-round. Situated just a short distance from Lake Geneva, from the Swiss Riviera (Montreux and Vevey), and from Lausanne, Leysin is an excellent starting point for a variety of fantastic excursions. Plus, the city is easy to get to (and from), as it's located just 20 minutes from the European highway network, 90 minutes from the Geneva Airport, and has an excellent train service.

Academic Center

Our school is ideally situated right in the center of Leysin. It's central location provides our students with a wealth of services and places of interest that is sure to make their stay an absolutely unforgettable experience.

Just 100 meters from the school, students can find the city's commercial hub, a pool, a climbing wall, tennis and squash courts, a gymnasium, a chair lift and other exciting features that give students the opportnity to enjoy all sorts of activities.

Course Characteristics

Students receive 20 French lessons each week. Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes.

Students can also elect a more intensive French language program by increasing their course load to 25 lessons per week.

Free Internet is available for our students' use.

Accommodation

Students are housed in a residence hall in which they will share rooms for 2-3 students, each with its own bathroom.

Activitites & Excursions

The team of local counselors organizes a daily schedule of activities for the afternoons following classes. At night, students can continue practicing French with their peers by partaking in a variety of activities, such as barbeques, movie nights, discotheques, etc.

Each week there is one partial-day excursion and, on Sunday, one full-day excursion to such places as the Castle of Chillon, Lausanne's interactive Olympic Museum, the city of Geneva, etc.

Students can also sign up for optional horseback-riding and tennis lessons.
