This small city of European-style city, with its rough mountains, its two oceans, its vineyards, its beautiful shores and the magical backdrop of the gigantic Table Mountain, together with the honest and amicable hospitality of its people, make of this city one of the most charming urban centers in the world.

With over 3 million inhabitants, Cape Town is the third most populated city in South Africa as well as one of the most beautiful. You'll find an intersting mix of architectural styles, a reflection of the different cultures and traditions that have coexisted and contributed to the development of the city, as well as traditional and modern markets.

Academic Center

The school is located in one of the best parts of Cape Town. It's a quiet residential neighorhood situated right next to the commercial district and has easy access to the city's public transportation.

The center boasts brightly lit classrooms with modern multimedia facilities and the program includes 20 lessons of English each week.

Accommodations

Students will be placed in host families. These families have shown a special interest in welcoming students from around the globe and making them feel right at home.

They always enjoy spending time with the student, which helps the student to get to know the culture and way of life. Families bring the participants to the school and pick them up at the meeting point following activities, meaning that students will always be accompanied to and from the school.

Activities, Sports & Excursions

A complete program of activities is offered three afternoons each week. Sutents will have the opportunity to enjoy the open-air artisan market in the city center; discover the local fauna and natural history in the South African Museum; climb to the top of Table Mountain and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the city below; visit the Hout Bay beaches, immerse themselves in the impressive aquarium of the two oceans; go shopping in Cavendish Squarer; enjoy the modern port with a stroll along the the waterfront; or take a scenic train ride to Simon's Town.

The program includes three full-day excursions each week. Students will be able to visit places like:

  • Cape of Good Hope, a boat ride to the island of seals and walking up to Cape Point. On this trip you will also visit a beach of penguins.
  • Hermaus, originally a fishing fillage with a beautiful port which nowadays is a renowned summer destination.
  • Roben Island. Students will take a boat ride out to this island, on which Nelson Mandela was held prisoner.
