With 2,600,000 habitants and stretching for 70 miles along the Pacific coastline, San Diego - located in southern California - is the sixth largest city in the USA.

The city, founded in 1542, was the first city on the Pacific side of the United States and sparked the creation of the state of California.

It enjoys a stable and mild climate all year-round, making San Diego the ideal destination for partaking in all sorts of sports. The city boasts 86 golf courses, 1,200 tennis courts, 40 miles of beaches and 4,600 acres of waterparks. Aside from sports, San Diego also has a wonderful cultural scene. One of the city highlights is Balboa Park; not only is it the second largest park in the USA, but it also contains a wide variety of museums within its limits.

Accommodations

Families

All of the host families are carefully selected by the school and are situated a 15-45 minute walk away. These families are typical American families who provide the students with a pleasant atmosphere in which to practice the language.

The student will have an individual room, and the meal plan is half-board every day of the week.

Apartments

Individual studios, double apartments for two people traveling together, or double apartments shared with other international students. The apartments are located 20 minutes from the school and each room has a color television, telephone, microwave, refrigerator and private bathroom. Students can also take advantage of the fully-equipped kitchens - one of every floor.

Cultural Activities

Each school's social activities coordinators will keep the students up to date on the various activities - and their respective costs - in which students can opt to participate. Constant favorites are the area's beautiful beaches, such has La Jolla and Coronado.

The school organizes varied afternoon activities, such as visits to the zoo, to Sea World, the local museums, to the Golden Gate Bridge, etc. In addition, there are also several sports activities- scuba-diving, surfing, windsurfing, swimming, volleyball, horseback-riding, tennis, golf. Finally, students can also elect to go on an organized weekend excursion to places like Las Vegas, Yosemite Park, Lake Tahoe, the Grand Canyon, Los Angeles and there's even the possibility of a trip to Hawaii!
