About Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Energetic and bustling with a population of roughly 2.5 million, Santo Domingo is a big city with the warmth of a small town. Despite its size, which can sound daunting, it maintains the typical vibe of a Latin culture.
Head down to Old Santo Domingo, the city's colonial district full of cobblestone streets and traditional architecture that will transport you back to another era. However, you can also take advantage of the city's up-and-coming modern side: fine dining restaurants, frenetic merengue clubs and much more!
Aside from age-old traditions and architecture, Santo Domingo's rich culture also offers newer facets, such as theaters, cinemas, and museums- all of which are dispersed throughout the city streets.
Finally, when you're in the middle of the Caribbean Ocean, how can you forget the beach! Luckily for you towel-toting sun-lovers, Santo Doming is located on the Dominican Republic's southern coast- that means just minutes from the beach.
All of this and much more makes Santo Domingo a prime study abroad destination- come discover it!
