About Rush, Ireland
The program takes place in Rush, a tranquil coastal town located 25 kilometers north of Dublin. Today, it is one of the dormitory cities of Ireland's capital.
The town is bordered on the north and on the south by two extremely safe beaches, both of which have earned the European Blue Flag for excellence.
Academic Center
The program takes place in St. Joseph's Convent school. With the school's prime location in the heart of Rush, students will be able to easily commute commute between their host family's home and the school.
Course Characteristics
Students will receive 15 English classes per week in groups of international students. At the end of the four weeks, students will receive a report card outlining their attitudes and academic achievements, as well as written reports from their host family, professor and counselor.
Accommodation
Students will reside with carefully chosen Irish host families. The homes are located throughout Rush's residential neighborhoods.
Whether on foot or via public transportation, students will be located within a short distance from the school. Families can take in up to three students, always of different nationalities and languages.
Activities & Sports
There is a full program of activities which is divided into three categories:
- Sports: windsurfing, water-skiing, basketball, tennis and rugby. Sports tournaments will be organized between teams formed by students of different nationalities.
- Cultural Irish workshops: traditional music, Irish dances, cooking and ceramics.
- Leisure: bailes, maquillaje, películas, competición de talentos, billares, ping-pong...
Three days a week there will be a social program following dinner. Examples include: discotheque, karaoke, talent night, beach games, Irish night...
Excursions
Each week students will go on one full-day excursion and one partial-day excursion. Possible full-day excursion destinations include:
- Newgrange & Drogheda
- Phoenix Park
- Blanchardstown water park
- Dublin: Center of Traditional Irish Music, Kilmainham Gaol and afternoon shopping.
- Dublin: Museum of Modern Art and Trinity College.
During partial-day excursions, students will possibly visit Skerries, Malahide, the Liffey River, etc.
For all excursions, private transportation and entry fees to the places we visit are included.
